Blind spots of agricultural vehicles

Drivers of agricultural vehicles sit high up in their cabs. As a result, there are areas around the vehicle that he/she cannot see. We call this the blind spots.
If you end up in the blind spot as a cyclist, pedestrian or other road user, accidents can happen. Therefore always try to stay out of the blind spot. Watch the video below or read the tips to find out how to do this and what you can do as a driver of an agricultural vehicle.

Make sure you are within sight of each other. How do you know for sure?
Wave to each other!  When the other waves back, you know that the other person is aware of you and therefore you can safely continue your way.

What can you do...

... as a road user?

  • Especially as a cyclist/pedestrian you take up a smaller part of the road. This increases the risk of ending up in the blind spot. Keep enough distance and make eye contact;
  • Always keep a sufficient distance from agricultural vehicles;
  • Don't stand on an inside bend;
  • Make sure you can see the driver at all times. If I see you, then you see me! Just make sure the driver has seen you;
  • Wave to each other, make sure you are aware of each other.
